We wish our Persian friends, teachers and students a Happy Winter Solstice, or Shabe Yalda Mobarak!
On Shab-e-Yalda, people meet friends or relatives, generally at the house of grandparents or the elderly, to celebrate the longest night of the year by eating nuts and fruits, reciting Hafiz poems, expressing good wishes, conversing and laughing together to welcome winter and bid farewell to fall.
